Fashion and inclusivity
The world of Western fashion is traditionally the bearer and promoter of models of beauty and taste linked as much to imaginaries as to institutionalized systems rooted in time, and difficult to unhinge.
If the advent of the new millennium has brought a progressive interest and growing awareness towards the issue of inclusiveness, especially on the part of public opinion, virtuous practices still seem to be a minority and scattered.
The Center for the Study of Fashion and Cultural Processes (Centro ModaCult) has long had a particular focus on the world of inclusive fashion, in its many aspects. To pursue this goal, she supports and coordinates several researches that explore the following themes: post-colonial approaches, Afro-descendant fashion, Modest Fashion, social fashion (tailoring workshops in prison, tailoring workshops for migrants and refugees), adaptive fashion and disability.
