Our history

The WWELL Research Centre – Welfare, Work, Enterprise, Lifelong Learning was formally established in 2010 at the Department of Sociology of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, taking up the legacy of a path of research and reflection on the transformations of work, welfare systems, business and training throughout the life course.

Since its establishment, WWELL has proposed itself as a place of study, training and scientific dialogue on the main changes affecting contemporary societies. In fact, the Centre interprets welfare, work, business and lifelong learning not as separate areas, but as closely interconnected dimensions, through which to observe the processes of development, social cohesion, inclusion, organisational innovation and integral human development of people.

Over the years, WWELL has brought together professors, researchers and professionals engaged in research activities at national and international level, developing skills on a broad set of topics: labour transformations, employment policies, workers' representation, labour market governance, welfare systems, public policy evaluation, lifelong learning, human resources management, corporate welfare, social responsibility and corporate sustainability.

Today WWELL continues to carry out research, training, scientific consultancy and dissemination, making its skills available to public institutions, companies, trade unions, third sector bodies, schools, territorial networks and professional communities. Its history is that of an academic centre aimed at producing rigorous knowledge and, at the same time, contributing to the understanding and accompaniment of the changes that affect work, welfare, organisations and communities.
