Workshop
Peace, Conflicts and the Economy
Hosted by the International Peace Science Center, the annual workshop Peace, Conflicts and the Economy will take place on 4–5 June 2026 at ASERI, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
The workshop brings together leading scholars from Italy and abroad working at the intersection of conflict and economics. The 2026 programme features contributions by Panu Poutvaara, Vincenzo Bove, Marijke Verpoorten, Victoire Girard, Mario F. Carillo, Michele Di Maio, Jerg Gutmann, Tuuli Tähtinen, Andrea Ruggeri, Arzu Kibris, Juan F. Vargas, Wolfgang Stojetz, Krisztina Kis-Katos, Valerio Leone Sciabolazza, Anna Balestra.
Across two days, the workshop will explore key themes in peace economics and political economy, including the economic consequences of conflict and political violence, the role of sanctions and military expenditure, the links between climate shocks, natural resources and insecurity, and the challenges of post-conflict recovery, migration, crime, and institutional and policy responses.
