I-LAMP Prize 2023
I-Lamp Master Graduate award: Elisa Zanardini and Michele Galvani
Elisa Zanardini graduated in Physics in the academic year 2022–2023 with a Master’s thesis entitled “Transport in a 1D chain: robustness to fluctuations of the long-range interaction”, carried out under the supervision of Prof. Fausto Borgonovi. She is currently a PhD student in Science in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame.
Michele Galvani graduated in Physics in the academic year 2020–2021, discussing his Master’s thesis on April 26, 2022. His work, entitled “Ultrafast Dynamics of Perovskite Superlattices”, was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Giannetti and was awarded the Con.Scienze 2022 prize. He is currently a PhD student in Science in collaboration with the KU Leuven University.
I-Lamp early career award (academic): Emanuela Carleschi
Emanuela Carleschi completed her PhD at the Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste under the supervision of Prof. Fulvio Parmigiani. She later moved to South Africa, where she continued her research on atomic surfaces, and pursued an academic career at the University of Johannesburg, where she worked as a PhD researcher for several years. Her activity spans both research and teaching, with a focus on mathematical methods and their applications.
I-Lamp early career award (non-academic): Nicola Picchiotti
Nicola Picchiotti graduated in Physics and later completed a PhD in Computational Mathematics and Decision Sciences between the Università di Pavia and the Università della Svizzera Italiana in 2021. He built his career in the financial sector as a quantitative analyst, working on risk and pricing model validation. After several years at Banco BPM and UniCredit, he is currently Team Manager (VP) in the CCR and Market Risk Validation team at UniCredit, where he leads activities related to market and counterparty credit risk models.
