About us
Feeding Complex Matter with Light
I-LAMP (Interdisciplinary Laboratories for Advanced Materials Physics) is a research center of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Established by rectoral decree in December 2011, the center is based in Brescia and operates through the laboratory and research facilities of the Department of Mathematics and Physics “Niccolò Tartaglia”.
Our mission is to advance fundamental and applied scientific research, and to provide technological expertise across key areas of modern physics, including:
- Physics of complex materials, nanostructures, surfaces, and interfaces
- Design and development of advanced instrumentation and devices for radiation-matter interaction
- Development and implementation of computational models and codes for the study of complex and nanostructured systems
I-LAMP brings together a diverse set of competencies already present within the University, while fostering active collaborations with scholars, researchers, and highly qualified professionals from other national and international institutions.
To pursue our mission and disseminate our research outcomes, the center is committed to:
- Participating in national and international research projects
- Strengthening the dialogue between academia and industry
- Attracting talented researchers and highly skilled professionals
- Expanding international cooperation among our members
- Organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings, including international events
- Promoting training activities and enhancing the local technical-scientific heritage
- Sharing scientific results through new digital technologies and outreach initiatives
Driven by a strong interdisciplinary vision, I-LAMP serves as a hub where advanced materials physics, innovation, and collaboration converge to create scientific impact at both the local and global level.
