Abstract:
Beauty is a value whose perception arises from a natural aspect (the beauty of a landscape, of a creature at any age); or from a cultural aspect (the beauty of a work of art, of a gesture). Beauty also emanate from elements of science that captivate the perceiver through research, discoveries, and mysteries. Beauty, a carrier of spirit and life, generates and regenerates in this complex system. Fashion allows us to closely observe this system as an expression of beauty and culture, at the same time, and often also as an expression of science. In this context, religion and fashion can engage in dialogue, especially when fashion pays homage to the sacredness of signs, objects, and colors. Every religion exhibits a ritualistic attire, serving as a model and a symbolic reference. We will explore encounters and examples that can guide us in this reflection.
