More and more Italians are showing concern about climate change and are in favor of environmental protection behaviors and policies (Istat Report 2022 on Environmental Concerns and Eco-friendly Behaviors). However, according to data published by the 9th National Observatory on Sustainable Lifestyle 2023 (LifeGate and Eumetra), there are still few people who engage in sustainable behaviors in their daily lives (e.g., reducing red meat consumption, choosing eco-friendly clothing, using renewable energy).
In a study recently published in the journal Psicologia Sociale, and involving a representative sample of inhabitants of municipalities overlooking Lake Garda, Mauro Bertolotti, Luca Valla and Patrizia Catellani showed that both individual and collective efficacy influence the intention to enact behaviors in favor of environmental conservation.
