The Centre

The Research Centre on Cooperative Mutual Banking aims to represent a research pole for the promotion of scientific analyses and studies on cooperative banking.

The Centre is concerned with enhancing, in a multidisciplinary perspective, the technical-identity character of mutual credit cooperation with in-depth investigation of managerial, legal and governance issues. Several areas of activity are carried out. First, scientific research on key issues, such as: (i) new service models, in light of proximity, digitalisation and relationship lending; (ii) proportionality of regulations, the cooperative banking group model and its evolution; (iii) ways to interpret sustainability by community banks; (iv) the relationship with social cooperation and the third sector in general;  (v) new trend in bank governance, the evolution of the member of cooperative banks, their expectations and satisfaction indexes. Second, the Centre will disseminate results through events, seminars and publications and training on the technical-identity nature of cooperative banking.

Looking ahead, the Centre intends to promote an international network among scholars from various countries who deal with financial cooperative studies.

Aims and objectives

To investigate the cooperative financial model by carrying out scientific activities on the subject of cooperative financials and by positioning itself as a national and international reference centre.
