The centre is interdisciplinary in nature and aims to be a place for cultural and scientific meetings and debates between scholars of cognitive sciences (psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, computer science, cybernetics) and those disciplines that explicitly refer to them (economics, sociology, law, political science).
In particular, the research activity promoted by the center concerns the following aspects:
- COGNITIVE STRATEGIES: reception, selection, processing, memory and retrieval of information;
- MENTAL CONTENT: mental representations and images, opinions, beliefs, stereotypes and prejudices, attitudes;
- STRATEGIES AND PROBLEMS OF COMMUNICATIVE INTERACTION: interpersonal and group relationships, negotiation and conflict, theories of conversation and narration, mass communication, persuasive influence, network communication.
In order to achieve the objectives indicated and to disseminate the results achieved, the Centre aims to:
- promote research activities on the indicated topics through collaboration between scholars of the various disciplines indicated and any other interested scholar;
- promote collaboration with European and non-European scholars, including through meetings and internships of researchers with collaboration agreements with non-Italian universities and research institutes;
- to promote collaboration with cultural institutions, scientific associations and Italian and foreign companies operating in the field of information and communication technology and other interested scientific disciplines;
- promoting meetings, seminars, conferences, publishing initiatives on scientific and applied problems of cognitive and communication disciplines.
