The research centre

The Centro di Studi Italiani - Center of Italian Studies (CSI-CIS) aims to promote and carry out scientific and educational research activities related to Italian culture and civilization, over a long period of time, dating back from the contemporary age to the Middle Ages, and up to the roots, which sink into the world of classical antiquity, to be carried out from a historical, philological-literary, philosophical, artistic and media. The research activity may also be carried out in collaboration with university institutions and research centres, with individual professors and university researchers from other universities and with personalities of high scientific or professional qualification, at national and international level, and will be mainly aimed at the training of students and researchers at international level.

The Centre aims to:

  1. carry out scientific research activities, including through participation in competitive projects and calls, at national and international level, in collaboration with other Italian and foreign universities;
  2. promote the publication of the results of the research carried out, through seminars, conferences, debates, scientific meetings, including international meetings, printed and digital publications;
  3. promote training activities, according to the following methods and purposes:
  • construct specifically designed teaching proposals, also in collaboration with foreign universities and with a view to the mutual recognition of qualifications, normally using the courses or courses already in place at the Università Cattolica and in particular at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy;
  • propose to the competent teaching and research structures the establishment of preparatory courses in Italian language and culture, undergraduate and graduate degree courses, first and second level university master's courses, residential courses and summer/winter schools, specialization courses, PhD courses.
