Quantum computers promise a significant speedup in computation of complex problems. It seems to be ideally suited for issues related to quantum chemistry, quantum many-body systems or quantum transport. Recent years have brought tremendous progress in quantum technologies, which allowed us to construct and operate on small-size quantum computers. Lately a group of researchers from IBM proposed solution of obtaining ground state energy for small molecular systems, using a hybrid approach. Part of the algorithm was performed on the classical and part on the quantum computer. In this talk, we will briefly explain the hybrid approach of obtaining ground state energies. We will discuss the role of quantumness (coherence and entanglement) in the computation. Finally, we will present plans for solving more complex problems.
