Lessons from Italy: a conversation with Amanda Murphy

 9 April 2020

Italy has suffered greatly as the COVID-19 pandemic spread around the world. A general lockdown was put into force on 12 March but educational institutions had been closed for students even before then. One result of this has been that universities have seen a swift and enforced move to total online delivery in order to guarantee second semester classes, seminars and graduation sessions.

The Director of the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation, Amanda Murphy, also Professor of Language and Linguistics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, was interviewed about the situation in Italy by Laura Rumbley, Associate Director of Knowledge Development and Research at the EAIE. The full interview can be found on our LinkedIn site here and deals with staff and student perspectives on online teaching, how technology has enabled growth, the importance of a caring online community, and international outlook and collaborative online learning.
