Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

Congratulations Dr Schampers Car!

 20 December 2018

We warmly congratulate Visnja Schampers Car on the award of her PhD today!

Visnja completed her research into the links between Catholic identity and higher education internationalisation on the PhD programme held by the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI) in conjunction with the School of Education at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. She was guided through her research project by her supervisor Fiona Hunter and we also take a moment to remember her co-supervisor, the late Giuseppe Mari, who worked with Visnja until she submitted her dissertation in September, but unfortunately passed away last month.

During her PhD studies, Visnja was very much involved in an international project on Catholic Identity and Internationalisation led by Boston College,  Pontificia Universidad del Chile and Universitattolica. The project led to a recently published book entitled Identity and Internationalization in Catholic Universities: Exploring Institutional Pathways in Context in which sheauthored or co-authored five chapters, drawing on the research undertaken for her dissertation, and was also a member of the editorial team.

Visnja is also the first CHEI student to be awarded the European Doctorate label and the third in the School of Education at UCSC.  This label indicates that her research was undertaken in a European context, that she spent at least three months in another European country and was able to defend her dissertation in two European languages.

We are proud of her success and look forward to reading more from her in the future.
