Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

2nd International Symposium on English-medium Instruction

 24 April 2018

Organised jointly by the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI), this one-day symposium on English-medium instruction (EMI) in higher education is aimed not only at EMI practitioners and researchers in higher education but also at graduates, trainee teachers, young researchers and PhD students working in languages and education.

The programme includes presentations of the current situation of EMI in Europe, in Asia and in Italy. The symposium will also tackle the many issues that the growing use of EMI has led to, from the co-existence of EMI and multilingualism to the effect of EMI on learning, amongst others. Focus will also be placed on research - in particular to discussion of the kinds of research that are now needed in order to move towards a better understanding of the use and the effects of EMI.

The symposium will be held at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. There is no charge for attendance but online registration is requested.

The proceedings of the 1st International Symposium on English-medium Instruction are now available as a supplement to L’Analisi Linguistica Letteraria, the  journal published by the Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
